📘 What It Means

The state of Missouri requires employers to indicate whether each employee is currently in a probationary period as part of quarterly unemployment insurance reporting. This is done by selecting Y (Yes) or N (No) in the employee’s tax setup.

This information helps Missouri track eligibility for unemployment benefits and supports accurate classification of new hires.
Providing this detail ensures your quarterly returns are complete and compliant with state requirements.

🛠️ How to Resolve

  • How to Determine the Correct Value:

    1. Select Y (Yes) if the employee is in their probationary period (generally employed for 28 days or less in Missouri).

    2. Select N (No) if the employee has worked more than 28 days or is no longer in their probationary period.

      1. Most ongoing employees will be marked as N unless they are new hires still within their first month of employment.
